On the evening of May 13, 2021, 100 agency heads, business owners and interested funders gathered on the third floor of the Glazer Children's Museum to consider the challenges facing kids, families and caregivers in the foster care system in Tampa Bay. That honest and robust conversation uncovered both the complexity of the problem and also the sincere and wholehearted commitment of the people in the room. An alliance was proposed as a way to work toward a deeper understanding of the challenges, better interagency communication, developing a collaborative strategy and unlocking new funding opportunities. Stretching us to think about eradication and/or total coverage. Once identified, a cross organizational advisory council of experts will convene to work on an agreed course of action that could conceivably reach that goal. This plan will then be broken down into phases and requests for proposals (RFP) released for each corresponding phase of the plan. In turn, funders would back both the phases of the plan and the work of collaboration contributing not just financial investment but expertise as they manage the Donor Advised Fund (DAF) allocating funding to the best possible execution of the plan.
